Skylights Brighten Your Home with Free Natural Sunlight
Everyone loves a room full of sunlight. Everything looks brighter and cheerier. You feel better about being indoors. Skylights let you see your beautiful home in a fresh, natural light—daylight.
Homeowners in every climate across America are discovering that Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights really can reduce their electric bills—without increasing their heating or air conditioning use.
How it Works
Think of Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights as a natural light fixture. During daylight hours, Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights let in enough natural light that you can turn off electric lights. That's free light during most of the day. You'll enjoy the superior quality of natural light while also reducing your lighting bills.
But unlike other skylights, Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights eliminate glare and hot spots that can fade furnishings or make a room uncomfortably warm, shadowy or cold.
Uses of Skylights in Your Home:
-Brighten up a dark kitchen
-Convert a garage into an office or artist's studio
-Make the living room a more welcoming place for family and friends
-Bring light and fresh air to an interior bathroom
-Manage your family's energy bills
-Feel good about contributing to a sustainable energy future
There's no easier, more affordable way to add value and comfort to your home while reducing your energy bill than Sunoptics Prismatic Skylights.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: As a homeowner, can i purchase directly from Sunoptics?
Answer: Sunoptics is only able to process business to business transactions with Licensed Contractors or documented distributors with SREA reseller credentials. Sunoptics recommends you contact a distributor, roofing contractor or general contactor. If you do not have a contact for these types of professionals, Sunoptics may be able to assist you in locating a contractor or distributor near you.
Question: I have a skylight that needs servicing. Will Sunoptics service my skylight?
Answer: If you have a Sunoptics skylight that is within the warranty period, Sunoptics will repair or replace as required. Sunoptics does not provide non-warranty service or installation services.
Question: I want to look out of my skylight. Does Sunoptics make clear Skylights?
Answer: No, Sunoptics is dedicated to achieving the best possible daylighting by maximizing light transmission with the best possible diffusion through high performance prismatic skylights. Transparent skylights can cause damaging UV degradation or hot spots that can cause fading over time as well as disrupt your comfort if in direct line of the sun.
Question: I have an existing skylight that I want to replace without reframing. Does Sunoptics make special size skylights?
Answer: Yes, Sunoptics can manufacture custom sizes to fit non-standard openings. Consult a licensed contractor with referenced knowledge in handling skylight installations for more details.
Question: I really like the look of Sunoptics Flat style skylight but my home has a flat roof. Can I use the flat style on my roof?
Answer: No, the Uniform Building Code/International Building Code (UBC/IBC) require that flat plastic skylights slope a minimum of 4 on 12, meaning, for every 12 inches horizontal, the roof must rise 4". For flat roofs, you would have to slope the curb.
Question: Is there a problem with condensation forming on Sunoptics Skylights?
Answer: Condensation occurs when warm moist air rises and comes in contact with the cold aluminum, causing moisture to form on the metal. All Sunoptics double dome or greater skylights come standard with a vinyl insulated thermal break covering all the exposed interior aluminum, greatly reducing condensation problems. Note that some homes may have such a high concentration of moisture inside that some condensation may form.
Question: Are Sunoptics Skylights thermally efficient?
Answer: Sunoptics Pyramid and Double Hip style have been tested and rated by the NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council). See the product data sheets for U-Value and SHGC numbers or visit http://search.nfrc.org/search/cpd/cpd_search_detail.aspx?cpdnum=SOS-A-2 (As of this writing, The Flat style has not been tested).
Question: Does Sunoptics make Deck Mount or Self-Curbing skylights?
